Food addiction is commonly related to overweight people however it is not restricted to them rather a large number of people unaware of this issue. The food is the fuel for the body and to run this body efficiently and adequately – Food is the protagonist (main character ruling over our physical and mental fitness) for living and satisfied life.


Binging is easy and thanks to ever growing online food deliveries food is available at the doorstep without any effort. Binging may best described as weak will to resist unhealthy food as it is delicious and later regret of not having it only. Once in a while indulgence is fine, but if it is becomes a habit –immediate attention is needed else it will lead to serious health issues. If we look around it is not hard to distinguish people who eat healthy and who don’t just with mere sight. Primarily because skin and hair texture mostly speaks for itself.


Apart from that, our mental energies to perform a task are largely connected to how and what we eat. Eating disorders may also anxiety and depression and one feel fatigue often.


In recent years, doctors and fitness coaches all over the world have begun to acknowledge food addiction as a silent killer. If one does not get the desired food they tend to burst out in anger (an emotion as Hangry i.e. hunger + angry). People with this addiction, cannot perform tasks if they are told that they cannot eat certain food.


More often the below symptoms are observed if one is having food addiction:


1.       End up eating more than planned when you start eating certain foods.

2.       Keep eating certain foods even if they're no longer hungry.

3.       Eat to the point of feeling ill.

4.       Worry about not eating certain types of foods or worry about cutting down on certain types of foods

5.       When certain foods aren't available, go out of your way to obtain them.

6.       One may eat certain foods so often or in such large amounts that you start eating food instead of working, spending time with the family, or doing recreational activities.

7.       You avoid professional or social situations where certain foods are available because of fear of overeating.

8.       You have problems functioning effectively at your job or school because of food and eating.

9.       People trying to quit another addiction finding comfort in unhealthy food.

10.   Feeling powerless in situation even though they have ability and time to perform.


Food addiction may cause hindrance with work life routine as the brain gripped in fear what if the food is unavailable loses its potential to perform. In such cases food is coined as drugs instead of being fuel.


This addiction can cause physical harm and it can lead serious diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, arthritis and depression, to name a few. But you have even bigger reasons to quit than some unfamiliar disease in distant future.


It breaks your self-esteem, makes one unhappy with your body and can make your life a living hell

The seriousness of being a food addict cannot be overstated. This is a problem that ruins lives and kills people, thus it is to be handled with outmost care.


Food Addiction Is a Serious Problem and a professional guidance must be sought as it is difficult impossible to remain in high spirits while coming out of it.
