We all are connected to internet all the time directly or indirectly.  Internet is a requirement of most professions these days, with breakthrough of social media, it created a peer pressure to be out there all the time,  chatting, replying to remain connected in the network and either to post pictures, thoughts or liking our friends’ post tells how important that person is to you. Internet addiction is best explained as an impulse control disorder, which does not involve use of an intoxicating drug and is very similar to gambling.  Thanks to ever reducing prices of 4G internet plans, the people of all generations are hooked on to it.  It isn’t that one should not use new technology but how much to use and what do you use it for makes a big difference.

4.       Feelings of restlessness, moodiness, depression, or irritability when attempting to cut down use of the Internet.

5.       It one remains On-line longer than originally intended.

6.       Jeopardized or risked loss of significant relationships, job, educational or career opportunities because of Internet use.

7.       Lying to family members, therapists, or others to conceal the extent of involvement with the Internet.

8.       Use of the Internet is a way to escape from problems or to relieve a dysphoric mood.  (e.g. Feelings of hopelessness, guilt, anxiety, depression.)
